SLIPKNOT's COREY TAYLOR Says He Turned Down Opportunity To Star In 'Rock Of Love' Reality Dating Series

SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor says that he was once offered an opportunity to appear in "Rock Of Love", VH1's hit reality dating series in which 25 women would comete to be his girlfriend.

The three seasons of "Rock Of Love" — which aired between 2007 and 2009 — featured POISON singer Bret Michaels as a lothario who searched for the woman of his dreams amid a sea of implants, tattoos and thongs. A fourth season was offered to Michaels, but he turned it down in favor of a family-centric reality show with his longtime girlfriend and their two children.

During an appearance on the April 14 edition of the "STP Cast" on the Seattle radio station KISW 99.9 FM, Taylor said (hear audio below): "I've gotten offered a lot of [non-music-related projects] over the years. I actually got called… I wanna say about seven years ago, I got called about being on 'Rock Of Love'. I think Bret had passed on it, on one of the seasons. And I was, like, 'Don't ever call me again.'"

He continued: "Honestly, I was sitting there… I was, like, [trying to figure out] who in their right mind thought I was the perfect dude for 'Rock of Love 12' or whatever the hell it was. And I was just, like, there's some idiots in this business. I'm just letting you know. I don't know if you got that memo. There's some stupid people [who] were given the keys to the kingdom."

Taylor added: ""I was talking to my manager. I was, like, 'Where the hell…? What conversation were they having where they went from one end to me? How the hell did you get to me and thought that I would be down with that?' At first I was pissed, and then I just started laughing my… I was just, like, 'You've gotta be kidding! Really?!'"

According to Corey, he later had second thoughts about turning down the opportunity to appear on "Rock Of Love", explaining that he could have turned into something different from what would have been expected. He said: "In retrospect, I was, like, 'Man, I should have just done one week and just ruined it.' [I should done] the complete opposite of what could have been and just destroyed these people's dreams. But at the same time, it's, like…I've got a pretty good vibe for what works for me and what doesn't."

He continued: "I've had a lot of people call me about collaborations, and I've turned them down, because it doesn't work for me. I've had a lot of offers in different movies, and I've turned them down, because it doesn't work for me. Either I don't have time [and] I wouldn't be able to give a hundred percent of what I can do creatively to it, or it's just really stupid."

Taylor added: "I'm not gonna be that guy that kind of cashes in my name for a quick paycheck. I would rather do what works for me, and hopefully have people come with me on that journey, than worry about anything like that. Because as long as you stick to your guns and do what works for you, you're gonna keep the lights on, you're gonna be able to pay your rent. And that's all that matters to me, really."

SLIPKNOT's "Summer's Last Stand" tour kicks off on July 24 in West Palm Beach, Florida, wrapping up six weeks later on September 5 in Dallas. Joining SLIPKNOT on the road trip will be LAMB OF GOD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and MOTIONLESS IN WHITE.

The summer jaunt follows a brief spring run that SLIPKNOT will launch on April 25 at the Fort Rock festival in Fort Myers, Florida, ending on May 16 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The band is supporting its latest album, ".5: The Gray Chapter", which came out in October.

The latest single released from "The Gray Chapter" is called "Custer".
